Common questions

Does Tapora store my credit card numbers?

No. Ever. Tapora only knows the name of cards you select from a built-in catalog (e.g. "Amex Cobalt"). We never ask for, collect, or store actual card numbers, expiry dates, or CVVs. There is nothing payment-sensitive in your account.

Why does Tapora ask for my location?

Tapora uses your approximate location only while the app is open to find merchants around you (Tim Hortons, Loblaws, Petro-Canada, etc.) and recommend the best card for each. Location is never sent to our servers or stored.

Do I have to sign in to use Tapora?

No. Tapora works fully offline-first — all your selected cards stay on your device by default. Sign-in is optional and only enables cross-device syncing of your card list. No card numbers are ever synced.

How do I delete my account?

Email privacy@tapora.ca with the subject "Delete my account" and we'll permanently remove your data within 30 days. Or sign out of the app and uninstall it — your card list will no longer sync.

How accurate are the reward rates?

Reward rates in Tapora's catalog are hand-curated from each card issuer's published terms (Amex, Scotia, RBC, BMO, CIBC, TD, etc.) and verified against Ratehub. Banks occasionally change rates without notice — if you spot an outdated rate, please let us know and we'll update.

Why doesn't Tapora open Apple Pay directly?

Apple does not allow third-party apps to pre-select a card for Apple Pay or trigger Wallet from outside. This is a deliberate restriction by Apple — no app on the App Store can do this. Tapora shows you which card to pick, then you double-click the side button as usual.

Why is my favourite card not in the catalog?

Tapora launches with 45+ top Canadian cards covering most wallets. If yours isn't in there, email support@tapora.ca and we'll add it in the next update. You can also tap "Custom" when adding a card to enter reward rates manually.
